Dr. Zooch Vanguard Eagle Build Part 13 Upper Engine Mount




Once again I used my rotary punch to make the engine hook notch instead of cutting a square notch with my knife.





The is the completed mount viewed from the top.

TIP: You can see an empty casing was set in place before sliding the engine block into place. The glue was added after the block was slid down on top of the bent end of the hook.

There is only a glue fillet on the top of the block / motor tube joint.
The empty casing helps keep the engine block square in the tube. Otherwise it would have only the bent end of the engine hook to rest against.

Notice the reinforcement band wrap just below the top bend of the engine hook. (To the left of the black electrical tape wrap) This prevents any tearing of the BT-20 tube at if the engine kicks back at ejection.
