Quest Cobalt Clone Build Part 11 Body Tube Seams

I'm slowly adopting a new way to fill the body tube seams with thinned Carpenter's Wood Filler.

I now dip the tip of a hobby knife into the tube of thinned CWF.

A small drop is left on the knife tip.

The blade is set into the seam and the drop is dragged down the trough.

You can do about 1 1/2" for each small drop you set and pull down the seam. The knife blade tends to stay in the seam while you are laying CWF in it.

Let this dry thoroughly before sanding.

Start sanding with a block, but don't sand all the way down to the surface.

The seam "trough" is shallow and the filler can be knocked out by too much sanding.

Just sand almost to the surface leaving just a little filler on either side of the seam. Think of the filler standing in the seam in a very flat "T" shape.

In the next blog entry, we'll "lock" the dry, brittle wood filler into the seam.
