Lonnie B. brought a collection of old Model Rocketry magazines to a recent launch. He picked up a dozen issues for $10.00 on EBAY. In the early 1970s the magazine was included with your NAR membership.
I mentioned to Lonnie I had a letter to the editor printed in an issue. A quick search and we found it in the November 1971 issue.
The letter and drawing explained how to convert a plastic Renwal Nike Ajax model for flight. Looking at it now it probably needed some nose weight to be stable.
To be honest, I don't remember if it was ever launched!
There isn't enough room for a small parachute.
The NAR is starting to post scans of past issues of their magazines to the members only section of their web site. So far they have Model Rocketeer for 1973 and 1974 up.
