Noris Raketen Aggregat - 9, Part 4, Nose Weight

This model requires 45 Grams of nose weight. The kit supplied clay weighed 45.7 grams.

I don't make clay worms to be pressed into the nose cone, I find myself chasing the ends around with a dowel.
It's easier to pack in small balls of clay. The pointed piece at the top goes in first, right into the nose cone tip.

The clay was moist and packed in well.

The "X" shoulder cap was too tight. I had to sand the sides just to get it inside. It was glued in using the Fabri-Tac glue.

  1. Chris - do you "seal" in your clay nose weight with a thin glue layer? I did that as a kid years ago and still do it now, just never wondered until now if it was really needed or just an old habit.

    1. Hi Openroad,
I would not normally seal the clay with glue. I have before though. On the 1.6" diameter Madcow kits, normal glue doesn't stick well against the inside of the nose cone plastic. I found that original (brown) Gorilla Glue locks in a clay weight that could break loose.
You squirt in the Gorilla glue then add a few drops of water to activate it. Let dry nose tip down.

  2. Huh. That's a pretty good idea. Seems like it would take a lot less time to pack down than one clay snake.

    1. Hi Daniel,
It's a little like ice in a cup, it settles in all by itself and just needs to be tamped in.
