Estes Saturn V #1969 Build, Part 30, Cutting The Tunnels

Looking from the side you can see the tunnel ends have an angle molded into them. It'll be hard to fit the half-round dowels into this.

Square off an end of a half-round and set it into the molded end. Trace around the dowel with a sharp blade and lift out the raised edge notch from the wrap.



Even with the notch removed you may still have to sand a slight angle into the end of the half round dowel.



Cut the half round slightly long and sand to an easy friction fit.




Mark the tube positions for the half rounds. Mark the corresponding dowels as all five will be custom fitted.

Here's a good fit, ready for gluing in the next post.
