Orlando area NAR Section - R.O.C.K. of Orlando had it's launch today.
Pretty good turnout considering the heat. There were probably 15 cars at it's busiest, with lots of families.
I flew the A-20 Demon Downscale with a 35 year old MPC A3-4m engine. Great altitude for this BT-20 based model.
An old Quest B6-4 left quite a lot of soot around the front end of my Nike Smoke. It'll come right off with a wet paper towel. Someone said: "It's a Nike SMOKE, isn't that what it's supposed to do?"
Astron Mike was there with his amazing pop-pod gliders. After ejection, one did a full loop before settling in for a flat glide. Out of the five or six he flew, one was lost in the trees. These were favorites today as many new fliers had never seen a boost glider work, and work well.
I finally got up the nerve to fly my Dr. Zooch Little Joe with a B6-4. Straight boost and surprisingly good altitude.
Like anyone who has built one, I was nervous about the tower. Of course it didn't land on the grass, it landed on the gravel road. No real damge, just the little spike on top was bent and a scuffed fin tip.
Also flown - Quest FLIC on an MPC A3-4m, MMX Downscale Sky Writer, Art Applewhite Monocopter on an A10-pt.
