Estes USS Enterprise #1275, Part 30, Intercooler Dowels

Four short 7/32" lengths of the remaining 1/12" diameter are cut. I usually cut a few extras and pick the best ones for the build.

I like to keep small pieces in zip lock bags until needed.

The dowels were held using tweezers. A line of glue was applied.

The dowels are placed using the tweezers.

The low end of the dowels butt up against the front of the intercoolers.

  1. URL to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for the Star Trek USS Enterprise studio model -- nice pics that might be useful as reference for painting.

Will have to go visit the museum one of these days -- last time I was there, was in a display case at the back of the basement-level gift shop -- just before it underwent the most recent restoration.

  2. On the aside, I've visited the location in Burbank, CA where the photo of the 11-foot miniature was photographed just outside the shop where it was constructed back in 1964.

Though the original shop doesn't exist anymore, much of the surround area hasn't hanged so much that you can still identify the location where those photos from 1964 were taken.
