Estes Time Warp Build, #7321, Finished

The model is taller than you would expect.

The upper payload section could be used for an altimeter. I used some masking tape on the nose cone shoulder for a tight friction fit.

The yellow adapter was glued into the white BT-50 using Fabri-tac.

If you are trying to match the face card paint, the fin mask is difficult.

Overall, the finished look is very good.

  2. Interesting rocket, clustering is always a challenge! I like the color scheme, but I'll probably go with a lighter gray on the main bt so the decals stand out better. Nice job on those tricky fins!

    1. Hi Paul,
I had two choices of gray, I went with the darker of the two, to match the face card coloring. A slightly lighter gray would give a better contrast to the black decal.

  3. The build came out looking very nice. Indeed those slits in the fins would've not only been a bear to deal with (not only on cutting out, cleanup, sanding, then painting), and likely end up being hardly visible in the final result. Perhaps one could "restore" that appearance of those slits by adding decal stripes (perhaps strips cut from a white decal sheet) if you really wanted to.

    1. Hi Naoto,
I figured the open slits would be difficult to fill and paint. I did consider white strips where they were located but didn't get around to it.

    2. Speaking of stripe decals -- something that doesn't always come to mind is checking what's available in the model railroading section of the hobby store.
Something unexpected that I recall finding in the model railway section were decals for Pan Am -- there was a railway company that used the same "globe" and distinctive lettering style as the airline.
