Quest Harpoon AGM Build, Part 2, Engine Mount

This is a show build for Quest so all visible seams will be filled.
On the left - the CWF in the engine tube seam has been sanded to surface.

The Quest yellow motor mount tubes don't have a glassine wrap so go light with sanding.
To strengthen the tube, a line of white glue was set down around the low (exposed) 1/2" of the yellow tube and smoothed out with my fingers. The coating of dried glue hardens the tube wall.

The pre-cut engine hook notch was a little high. If the hook end were set in this pre-cut slot, the engine block would extend up over the top of the yellow tube.

Using the blue engine block as a height guide, a new slot was marked and cut. When the block is slid in place it will cover the old slot on the inside and won't be noticed.

A slight curved bend was made in the engine hook.

TIP: Instead of masking tape, I prefer to use a more permanent black electrical tape to hold the engine hook.

Notice the centering ring pencil marks both drawn all the way around the motor mount tube, 1/2" from the ends.
The instructions don't mention it,
TIP: I punched relief holes with my rotary leather punch for the Kevlar line and engine hook relief.
If these relief punches weren't made, the engine hook could press in and deform the yellow tube out of round.

Not shown:
The body tube, launch lug and fins got a coat of CWF and was sanded to surface.
All got a coat of filler/primer and smooth sanding.
