It's a two day event, Saturday was the regular club launch, Sunday was for research. We arrived around noon. There was a typical good turnout.

This is Brian Urban with his 1/10th scale ASTROBEE 1500. Brian is a craftsman and should be entering scale competitions at NARAM.
Boost was impressive with programmed slow spin on a G64. But, there was no parachute! The model hit hard and was totaled.

Here's Orlando R.O.C.K. President Brian Coyle.
He flew his 1/4 size HAWK MOTOR TEST VEHICLE with a G76.
Very cool, clean design built with scale data from the Alway book.

Tony McCrea had a core sample with his GIT-R-NAKED. When it was pulled out, there was just minor scratches!
The inside front end of the Estes BT-70 airframe was reinforced with sheet plastic.

I was on the LPR pads with my RAISIN' MAIZE for it's public debut.
It was very stable with an A10-3t engine. The parachute didn't want to open at ejection but finally did at 100' for a safe landing.
To the right is one of Aston Mike's INVADER boost gliders. Everybody always stops to watch his stuff glide then glide some more.

The 260 SPACE BOOSTER had a first flight with a B6-4.
As predicted, one of the clear fins popped off when it landed. Other than that, a good flight.

Lonnie Buchanon brings the classics.
That's his 1970s vintage ALPHA with a 35 year old C6-5 engine!
Even the parachute and tape strips holding the shroud lines were original!
Also flown:
My JOLLY ROGER with a two engine C6-5 cluster
The CD SPOOL with a C6-3
PIGASUS! with a C6-5
As for Git-R-Naked not deploying its parachute, my daughter said it best: "Dad, it's naked...no laundry."
ReplyDeletePretty funny! It was good to meet your daughter at the launch! My girls rarely go to club launches anymore - too hot!
