Estes Saturn 1B, #7251 Build, Finished

This one was a good build adventure. There have many improvements over the original 1/100 scale Centuri kit format.
It took a little over 28 hours to assemble and paint.
Most builders would glue on the fins and mask afterwards. I didn't think I'd be able to get a clean mask if the fins were glued on before painting.
It's an impressive model and will look great standing next to the 1/100 scale Saturn V.

    1. Hi Ed,
Thanks but I'm no Grand master - Check out some pictures of the international scale model competitions. Those guys are the true builders.

    1. Hi AAube,
Duplicolor Gray Primer/Filler was used before paint.
I seem to be constantly changing paint brands to find something consistent.
The Gloss white is Krylon Industrial Acryli-Quik paint from Grianger's. #K01501A07 This is not the Krylon you find at WalMart, is has to be ordered.
Black is Ace Hardware Premium Gloss Black #17004.
Silver details were hand brushed using a small bottle of Testor's silver.
Final clear flat coat is Krylon Clear, Matte, UV Resistant Spray Paint, #K01309007.
For final clear coats, be sure to get the UIV resistant so it won't yellow over time.
