Parachute Cutting TIP

Years back, I can remember the frustration of cutting out a thin plastic parachute with a pair of dull scissors. The old instructions simply said: "Cut out the parachute."

TIP:
Never bother cutting out a plastic parachute with scissors!

Before I get any further - notice the straight edge is turned over with the cork backing facing up.
Here I'm using a straight edge and sharp #11 blade to cut the parachute material on the outside printed line.

I've found the best results by flipping over the straight edge so it isn't (slightly) raised by the cork under the ruler.

With the chute material being so thin, there is less chance of it moving and flexing which could lead to a jagged cut line.
Just be sure to hold the straight edge firmly down and still while cutting.
