Semroc Saturn 1B, Build, OOP #KS-1, Part 10, Balsa Fill & Detail Pieces
There's a rounded notch around the capsule. The center hole of the shroud rests against this notch.
It's not easy to sand this clean, I wrapped 400 grit around a Q-tip for some even soft pressure.
The ridge around the escape tower tail cone is sanded with 400 grit in a "soft" fold.
The C/M and S/M Umbilical Detail pieces are formed to match the profile drawings.
The C/M Half piece is shown as it comes off the laser cut balsa sheet. The horizontal lines help with the position of the sanded angles.
By the time you shape the C/M half to shape, (right side) those laser lines disappear.
The S/M Half is thinned a bit and the low side rounded.
