Estes Saturn V #1969 Build, Part 22, Positioning The Fins And Fairings

GOTCHA: The instructions don't go into much detail about gluing on the fins. They don't mention gluing the fin root edge to the low body tube wrap. Only outside joint gluing is shown. If there is no glue at the root edge the fin will wobble.

I did some dry positioning of the fins and fairings. Once the back of the fairing was even with the end of the tube, it was raised up. The rear edge of the fin was marked on the body.

TIP: After trying all four fins and fairings I came up with the 3/8" distance from the rear of the tube. Your rear positioning mark may be a bit different.
Draw a pencil center line and trailing edge fin position line. This will come in very handy when lining up and gluing the fin first.
