Quite a few tubes in the kit -
The long tube in the middle is a heavy wall, 24mm tube.
There is clay for nose cone weight and a 3/16" diameter launch lug.
There are two sheets of laser cut thick card stock.
Five sheets of laser cut balsa, all 1/16" thick.
I wish the paper was a light blue, it's easier to see the white against the light blue backing paper.
The nose cone has 12 raised ribs, from the tip down to 1/2" above the shoulder. Something I hadn't seen before.
To the right are the nine basswood strips. Later in the build the are cut at a 45 degree angle and rounded.
Looks to be a real challenge to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Bill,
DeleteChallenge isn't the word I've been using. The fins are very complex.
This one gave me a flashback of my Andromeda build - Long, black, and orange. But I read this had a heavy-walled tube. I built my Andromeda a long time ago (Thin tubes and all), and I've yet to fly it, as it seems weak. But they all got to fly...
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
DeleteThe Semroc Andromeda uses Centuri ST-7 (thicker wall) tubes. I made the suggestion to Randy at ERockets as Estes BT-20s are thin. Heavy walled BT-20H tubes (from Odd'l Rockets) are available from jonrocket.com.
