This model is BT-5 based and stands 6 1/2" tall. The wing/fin span is 3 1/4" wide.
If you haven't built a carded rocket before, why not give it a try.
A big feature is great miniature detail with no filling or painting! (Except for the nose cone)
My carded rockets are based on the Greg Poehlein design style.
Body wraps are printed on 20 or 24 lb. paper and wrapped around the body tube. This give you a very strong main body tube.
The fins and canopy are printed on 110 lb. card stock. The leading edge is creased and folded over cereal box cardboard. Folding the card stock fin overlay in the middle gives you a rounded leading edge.
3 ply card stock fins are much stronger than you would think.
I haven't flown mine yet, I will soon. It should be good to go using MicroMaxx, 13mm 1/2A3-2t or A3-4t engine.
It might need a little nose weight so check for stability.
Why bother with downscale models?
- If you screw up construction, just print out another.
- Great for small field launching.
- They fly better than you would think they could.
- Engine prices are lower.
- Less space on the display shelf.
- Carry them in your range box.
- Make more rockets with less materials.
- Dirt cheap to make.
- Recycling - cereal boxes.
- BARs think they are cool. Bring one to a club launch and watch the reaction.
- Girlfriends, Wives, even Ex-wives think they are cute.
- Great conversation starters.
- Christmas tree ornaments.
- Did I mention - no filling or painting or decals? (Yeah I know, except for the nose cone)
