Custom Solar Explorer Build Part 25 Sharpening the Mask
There was a little bit of white along the body tube edge at the top of the sticker.
When the two tubes were coupled together, you could a bit of the white and the color separation wasn't as sharp as I would have liked.
The body tube edge was blackened in with a Sharpie marker. This covered any white showing along the top of the sticker band.
Here's how the two joined tubes look now.

Hey Chris, couple of questions:
ReplyDelete1. Do you ever worry about the adhesive "letting go" on the black electrical tape you use for motor mounts because of high heat?
2. On your carded models, (lets use the down sized Patriot for example) do you spray on a "clear coat" to help protect the finish or will that make the ink run?
Hi IG-88,
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never had a problem with the black electrical tape letting go on the engine mount. It's just that paper masking tape deteriorates ovr time. The black electrical tape lasts for a long time.
And yes, I do spray the printing on carded models after assmebly. The printer ink can run if tthe model lands on wet grass. I usually spray a few light coats on a carded model.
