Estes Scout Ship Nova Build #1392, Finished

After all the vinyl was applied the model got a light dusting of flat clear coat.
The original kit had yellow and green decals. The yellow and blue are a better combination keeping with the blue windows on the Starship Nova sister ship.
This model is smaller than the Starship Nova, the finished length is just under 15".

I really like that the rear raised engine tube visually balances against the drop nose at the front.

  1. Nice job, Chris. I have a question on finishing your models. When you sand the primer coats, do you find that it fouls your sandpaper, especially automotive primer? Is this something unavoidable, or is there some super secret anti-fouling never needs replacing sandpaper available somewhere? Do you frequently replace your sandpaper? Cheers, tally ho, pip pip, and dilly dilly.

    1. Hi BAR,
I only use Duplicolor Primer/Filler. It dries quickly, sands off easier than anything else out there and doesn't load up the sandpaper.
I reuse my sandpaper over and over by brushing out anything that accumulates. http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.com/2014/08/new-sandpaper-brush-budget-tip.html
Newer, higher grade sandpapers don't load up as fast: http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.com/2013/11/new-sandpaper.html
Put the new sandpaper together with a soft wire brush and it will last a very long time.
