Small holes were punched in some scrap cardboard and the nozzles set in standing up.
Just the top, flat surface got a shot of Duplicolor filler/primer and smooth sanding.
The bottom of the centering ring got a shot of filler/primer and sanding. There would be no way to effectively fill the grain once the nozzles are glued on.
The paint was scraped away for a better glue bond of the nozzle tops.
The nozzles were painted silver before gluing on the low centering ring. The tops of the nozzles were masked before spraying.
In addition to gluing the outside, I put a good sized drop of glue over the top notched holes.
The finished engine mount and nozzle plate assembly.
That looks great, Chris.
ReplyDeleteHi Metal,
DeleteThanks! I probably won't see you and your family until September - I'm going to NARAM in August!
Nice! What type/brand of silver paint?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
DeleteThat paint is Rusto 2X Metallic Aluminum. That's about the only Rusto 2X paint I use with good success. It goes on smooth and dries quickly.
