After a little sanding with 220 sandpaper on a block, I got a tight butt joint if the cut shoulder piece sides.
I would probably rough up the inside walls of the plastic and epoxy the shoulder into place.
While the fit of the nose cone is very close to the outside diameter of the Quest 50mm tube, the diameter of the shoulder you just made will require some masking tape or a cardstock wrap for a good fit.
This is only because the nose cone wall is thicker than normal.
But, for a nose cone this large at $.50 each? I'm not complaining.
