LAUNCH! Orlando R.O.C.K. Section Monthly, April 2, 2011

Sorry I didn't do my blog posts Saturday morning. I had an early start to get to the April Orlando R.O.C.K. section launch and didn't get back until late!

Here's a good start to the Orlando R.O.C.K. launch today.
The Odd'l Rockets UP! CUP was launched with a C6-3. We had lots of kids at the launch calling out: "The cup! The cup!"

It really doesn't bend sideways like the picture shows. That's just a figment of Roger Smith's camera sometimes.

Brian Coyle is our section leader and R.S.O.
The CORKSCREW lived up to it's name with an A3-4t engine under it.
We had plenty of wind and the streamer brought it back close. Lots of flyers cut spill holes in their parachutes.

I have a feeling the PIGASUS might be my signature flyer.

With a B6-4 and full chute it landed without damage.

The Odd'l Rockets BREAK-AWAY flew straight up on an Estes B6-4.

Recovery was okay except it fell tail first instead of it's usual horizontal form. It only broke into five pieces instead of six. This left the motor end a little heavier than normal. When I picked it up there was no damage.

Also flown:
The ASP Micro JAYHAWK with a MMX engine. Small and fast it got over 100 feet altitude.
The new carded Mini BIG BERTHA with a old MPC 1/2A3-5t engine. It had a little corkscrew during boost and didn't blow the streamer out at ejection. Even with wadding, the streamer was a bit melted. No other damage.
