LAUNCH! Friday the 13th - Schoolyard 1/13/2012

What's more appropriate for a Friday the 13th Launch? SAUCERS! Why not?

First up was the Quest MicroMaxx AREA 51 SAUCER. I probably could have thrown it higher than the engine pushed it. I remember now why I don't load this one up! Still funny and a good test for the system and to check the batteries.
Altitude - maybe 15 feet. You can see how small the MMX ejection charges are when it turned over. The Quest plastic Saucer has an empty weight of .26 oz.

FlisKits offers up three (FREE) different MicroMaxx carded Saucers on their website. These freebies are downscales of the OOP Triple Threat kit.
This is the MMX ODYSSEUS. At 2.25" diameter it was a tight carded build. It might have reached 30' up. Hoo boy! This FlisKit Saucer empty weight is .09 oz.

Speaking of the OOP Fliskit Triple Threat, I just finished these two from that triple pack kit.
Ross Mozier gave me the kit at the last Orlando R.O.C.K. launch. A fun build, except for bending all those wire antennas.
Both the ATHENA (Pentagon Saucer) and PERSEPHONE (round saucer) and the flew with A10-3t engines.
The face card says "Altitudes of only 50 - 75 feet!" Truth in advertising is a good thing.
I know the A10-3t booster engine is recommended but the A10-3t engine ejection went off long before it touched down. Both landed on their wire antenna landing legs.

Out neighborhood maintenance man Austin drove up in his golf cart to watch. He launched this saucer for me.
Last up was my own scratch SAUCER with a C6-3 engine.
The loud thrust got it up to an estimated 175 feet. It gently flipped over and floated down. No antenna legs on this one.

Five up, five down.
