True Modeler's Rocket Kits NASA Scout, Finished
To be honest, I wasn't overwhelmed with this OOP kit. The short shock cord, weak shroud lines, shock cord mount and snap swivel couldn't be used. The fin alignment guide and wrap around sticker didn't fit the BT-60 tube.
I wish the smaller card stock adapter was balsa. It is very tall rocket at 30.25"!
For a sport scale model, the finished look is pretty plain. It could end up being a good schoolyard rocket with a B6-4 engine. A build on RocketReviews.com says not to use the recommended A8-3.

Maybe you could dress it up with some home printed LTV Scout decals? It would still be scale accurate:

Perhaps the United States and maybe the diagonal stripe? BTW most of us would be stoked if we could produce a model as good as yours.
Go easy on the egg nog today. Laters
Addendum: Chris, I found a picture of ST-1, which I believe is the first NASA Scout launch:

As you can see, it appears to match this kits' configuration: a middle transition and a smaller upper transition. The upper portion is painted black, and it appears one fin as well. Markings include the roll pattern on the bottom as well as diagonal and horizontal stripes and the United States markings. Hope your model flies great!
Addendum #2: When I clicked on the picture and enlarged it to full resolution I noticed something interesting: the United States marking is made up of square dots, like on the Enerjet Mercury Little Joe build you did a while back. Also the actual nose cone is stubbier than the one on the kit. Whew, I'm going to sleep.
DeleteHi BAR,
DeleteThanks for the link. There isn't much available on these early rockets, so much of it was classified back then. That picture is closer to an LTV Scout, the NASA Scout from the kit is an earlier version yet. That "square dot font" is some strange stencil, very interesting. They probably used the same paint templates on the Little Joe 1.
