Estes Star Speeder #1366 Build, Part 11, Canopy Gluing

I used a glue stick to assemble the back end of the canopy. Glue sticks are perfect for canopy and shroud making. Instead of wet white glue, a glue stick won't over-saturate the cardstock. If used correctly will hold just as well as liquid glue.

Notice I'm not putting the glue on the glue tab but on the side of the canopy wall where the tab will end up. Sometimes you'll end up with a cleaner joint laying the glue on the opposite side.

The tab is held with smooth tweezers until the glue adheres.

On the right I'm adding some white glue over the tab area with a Q-tip. This doesn't take much glue to strengthen the joint.

The canopy is placed and traced around the edges. Scrape away the primer for better adhesion inside the pencil lines.

Glue is lightly placed on the inside edges of the canopy.
Before it dries, you can form the canopy sides to the body tube. The sides will want to raise up off the surface.
