Cut the 6" long dowel into two 3" sections.
Mark the dowels 3/4" from one end.
Wrap masking tape around the dowel, maybe four wraps. Don't worry about the overhang on the right side, over the end of the dowel.
TIP: I didn't cut the excess masking tape off right at the end of the dowel. The upper picture shows the 1/4" overhang after being pinched closed.
Cut off some of the excess, leave some rounded over the end of the dowel. This will make for an easier insertion in the launch lug.
As the instructions say, trim off some of the masking tape wrap until you get a good fit. I ended up using about 3 1/2 wraps of tape.
Set the dowel guns aside, they'll be glued in later.
