The large adapter had a bit of a "dip" on it's side surface. I sanded it down a little.
This adapter will be covered by the S-II/S-IVB wrap. That dip won't be noticed.
Still, I wanted a flatter surface for a better fit.
You don't want to change the shape of these parts! The Dr. Zooch wraps always fit very well.

The back end of the adapter shoulder was very square and rough.
The base was sanded smooth and the edges rounded for an easier fit in the T-60 tube.
In preparation for the gray primer:
The tube weams were filled with CWF and sanded smooth.
The exposed balsa area (not covered with a wrap or adapter cover) was filled with CWF and sanded smooth.
The instructions say to spray these dry assembled parts with flat white paint.
I'd recommend spraying with a gloss white. You'll be handling the model during construction and a flat finish will get dirty.
The instructions later say:
Note: Flat paints that leave a rough finish can cause your decals to not stick properly. Be sure to uwse a smooth finish paint.
I wouldn't take a chance of the decals "silvering" on a flat white finish. Go ahead and paint it gloss white.
Apply the decals then hit the finished model with a clear dull coat if you want a flat finish.
