Full Size V2 Launch

"World's largest amateur rocket to be launched in March 2015 at Thunda Downunder in Queensland, Australia."

The full size V2 was launched yesterday by the group Rocketry Victoria.
The build and initial launch was impressive. I'll leave your opinions to the comments below -

    1. Hi Jim,
Sorry, I deleted your comment by mistake! I thought I was hitting the "Respond" button.
I do agree, it didn't go very high. You can hear a few laughing when it was coasting to apogee.
Still, you've got to give these guys credit. It was a big project and it did fly!

    2. No problem. I do agree it was a big project and a successful flight. Any idea of the V-2's size in comparison to some of the larger Saturn rockets that have been flown? Any idea what engine was in the V-2?

    3. Hi Jim,
The Steve Eves Saturn V had nine motors, 8 Ms with a P engine in the center. As I understand it, the recent V-2 launch was a single O engine.

    4. It was a spectacular flight. Seeing the video on a small screen doesn't do it justice. The V2 used an O25000. The Victoria guys wanted to keep it as simple as possible and the O motor is the biggest available here in Oz. It was just over 14m tall, I believe about 3m taller than Steve's equally awesome 1:10th scale Saturn V.

    5. Thanks for the specs George!
Being there in person is always better than watching it on a small screen.
