Here's a test spoon after two coats.
It is more reflective but still not a mirror finish.
The Rustoleum Chrome is on the right.
After three weeks of drying - one light rub of my thumb dulled the finish turning the sheen a dull gray!
Why bother doing a post if you can't report any decent results?
Maybe this information might save you money and frustration.
There are other chrome paint "systems" available but are much more expensive and outside the blog budget.
Honestly, the Rusto finish looks pretty good for the price. Well, before you rubbed your finger on it, anyway.
ReplyDeleteHow does it respond to clear coat or polishing?
Hi Neil,
DeletePolish will dull the shine and clear coats turn it gray! Any light handling will mar the finish.
I have found Alclad airbrush silvers and chrome formulations to be the best by far. They come ready to spray and don't get ruined by handling. Their clear coat protects the finish without dulling. Been quite happy with results using Alclad paints.
