Make Your Own Engine Hooks Part 2


You'll need pliers, a strong wire cutter, metal file and a standard 2 3/4" engine casing.

Don't expect your first few tries to be usable. It'll take some practice to get the bend lengths right.

Here's how the blade sits in the pliers for the first bend.

I'll be bending the metal away and back from the position shown.


Here's the first 90 degree bend. Bend fairly quickly to make it a sharp, square bend.
If you feel a "crack" when bending, throw the metal away and try another strip. A good piece of spring steel will bend smoothly. You'll know what I mean after you've made a few.
