Estes Skylab #001973, Build, Part 20, Prepping For Black Paint

After the white was shot, I ended up filling the gap at the inside joint between the body tube and fairing.

After some careful trimming to even up the tube and plastic, some CWF was dabbed over the break and allowed to dry.
After sanding, filler/primer was applied and sanded to surface.

TIPS: I'd recommend wrapping the body tube in paper towels or copy paper for the upcoming black outline steps.
You'll be handling the model A LOT! Oils and dirt are easily transferred onto the white painted body and will discolor it. Paper wraps keep the white paint - white.

These paper covers are moved to open up the surfaces you will be black border marking.
A Saturn V is a difficult model to mask with all the corrugations and raised details.
This black outline technique was something I picked up watching the older Apogee Saturn V assembly videos.

You can (traditionally) mask off the white for the black spray paint using tape -
Because of the irregular surfaces, (for me) it's easier to outline the black areas then mask. You won't be pushing masking tape into the corrugations.

Start with the easiest outline - the black band at the bottom of the nose cone. You can use the raised rib as a border.
