Estes Skylab #001973, Build, Part 27, Silver Fins & Fairings

The bottom of the fairings and all the fin surfaces are to be painted silver. It's a tricky mask trying to get a strip of Scotch tape to be straight around a conical side.
You can certainly use Tamiya tape for the curved lines.

That curved piece of tape is over the fairing, the other tape strips are straight.

I can use the tape here - the corrugations on the fairings aren't as deep as the body wraps.

One thing to remember -
For now, the body is overall gloss paint. Decals transfer best onto shiny, smooth surfaces.
After decals are in place, the model is sprayed with a dull coat. The silver I'm masking for now will have to be masked off for the later dull coats.
Dull coats will turn Silver paint a flat gray color.

After the Scotch Tape outlines are in place, the rest of the body was covered with brown masking tape.

Here's the silver areas after the tape was lifted.

There is going to be more touch-ups!
