Don't cut the half dowels to length yet!You'll be trimming to the length needed after getting them to right height.
The half round dowel tunnels won't butt up against the lip on the vacuform wraps. Enlarge the picture and you can see I cut off the lip up to the raised vacuform tunnel.
When set against the vacuform tunnel, the half dowel is slightly taller and wider.
The flat bottom of the half dowel was sanded down until it matched the height of the vacuformed wrap tunnel end.
While sanding, dowel height was checked in a caliper to be sure all the pieces were the same height.

ReplyDeleteThe bottom of the dowel was sanded to get it closer to the height of the tunnel on the wrap.
To lower the height, you could sand down the top. But then you'd have to re-round the top.
