I decided to use some tongue depressors I had in the spare parts drawer.
These are made of hard birch with no grain pores.
Two were glued and laminated together.
These dried under weight.
1/8" strips were cut. This gave me a nearly square rod.
Two were cut to length.

These were shaped and tapered on a sanding block.
The rear taper is sharper than the front.
The sides were rounded to match the picture in the previous post.
