Transporting Rockets?

From the Estes Model Rockets Facebook page, 

John A. Schilling found one way to transport his rockets to the launch site.

Amazon describes the box as - 

"Classroom Keepers Poster & Roll Storage

24" H x 12 1/4" W x 12 1/4" D

Comes with a divider that can be modified to fit up to 16 storage spots

It looks like it can comfortably fit BT-60 models. The box is 24" high. 

You just have to be careful of fin contact with other rockets.

It is made from cardboard, some water protection might be needed on the flat bottom.

Rocket Shelves

On the Facebook Estes Model Rockets page, Gerry Sieracki asked: 
"How did/would you protect your rockets when moving several states away?"

David Scigs answered and posted a picture of his rocket and plane room:
"I am wrestling with the same dilemma, I have a ton of rockets and airplanes built. Looking to move from the West Coast to TN in 4 to 5 years. I have a lot of careful packing to do. I hate to just get rid of these classics."

My response:

Sort of looks like my rocket room, but yours is better organized! I've drilled small holes halfway into the shelves and stuck in short 1/8" rods. I either slide the models down on the launch rods, or into the open engine mounts. That's probably because I grew up near the Earthquake Capitol of the World" and had a few rockets shaken off the shelves.

I was dating a girl for a few months, had her over for a house tour. When she didn't run screaming after seeing the rocket room I thought: "She might be a keeper!" In the end she didn't work out. We went to a club launch and after 20 minutes she asked: "How long do you normally stay at these things?"

Micro-Maxx Model Storage, Part 2

Holes were punched with a bamboo skewer where the Sharpie dots were drawn.

Short lengths of bamboo skewer were cut.

Glue was set in the holes and the short skewer dowels pressed in. Check to be sure the dowels are sticking straight up.

For the longer models that will lay on their side, two posts will sit on either side of the body tube.

Here's how the models ended up. Not very glamorous, but the models are safe and together in a small area.

Micro-Maxx Model Storage, Part 1

At one time I built and launched quite a few Micro-Maxx models. The finished models were storeded in different places. I wanted them together, protected in one location.

A cardboard box will give them good side wall protection, but how to keep them from sliding around?

I found a thick piece of cardboard and it was cut to fit the bottom of a box.


That thick bottom piece was set down and the models placed on the board, more or less evenly spaced.
The shorter models can stand, the longer models will lay on their side.

Sharpie "dots" marked the locations of small dowels that will slide into the engine mounts. I tried to line up the dots in a straight line.
