New Estes Banshee Kit

I thought this one looked familiar!

It's (sort of) an upscale (ST-7 to BT-50) of the old Centuri wedge finned Bandito!

Here's the cardstock wedge fins assembly.

  1. It will be interesting to see how the fit between the fin and the body tube will be like. When you work out the geometry, you'll find that the base edge of a wedge-shape fin ends up as a slight curve rather than a straight line -- with the curvature being more pronounced as the fin becomes thicker.

  2. Figured I wasn't the only one. As soon as I saw the email today the first thought I had was "Wow, somebody at Estes remembers the Centuri Bandito".

  3. I'm curious why Estes didn't use the Bandito name. It would've been more unique than Banshee, which has been used on 2 previous Estes models.

    1. Hi Paul,
They could have used the name Bandito. Maybe now it would be considered politically incorrect. Remember the Frito Bandito controversy?
