The "W" strip is centered and glued onto the leading edge of the fin. Check for an even overhang on both sides.

I used tape to hold it in place. Double check before you set it aside. Make adjustments before the glue sets up.

Here's how the W strip slightly overhangs the sides of the fin.

Here's the same fin after sanding down the overhang.

The ends of the W strip are sanded to match the curvature of the assembly.

On the left is the low end, on the right is the small end.

I glued small strips of balsa into the gaps around the X piece joints.

These were sanded down as shown on the right.
