Estes Leo Space Train #7285 Build, Part 1, Parts

This is an impressive BT-60 based model.
Many online comments thought it might be a pop-pod boost glider, but it has standard 18" parachute recovery.

If you build this model and wish to paint it like the face card -
Be aware of any tricky masks and consider painting assemblies separately before gluing it together.

Lots of parts - the 18" Estes parachute didn't make it in this picture. This was a pre-production kit,  the decals were still being printed.

Parts of interest:
The laser cut balsa parts have additional light detail cuts. It's up to you to keep the (halfway through the sheet) cuts clear so they show after the final paint coats.

A new nose cone with an off center rounded tip. It dips down in the front.
New gray nozzles and an 18mm engine retainer.

  2. Already answered my question about the odd nose cone. From the pictures in the catalog I couldn’t tell if it was off center or that was a visual trick from the masking. Wonder if Estes will offer it for sale separately?

  3. I have WAY too many unbuilt kits, and will order this one! Like Openroad, I want this nose cone offered separately.
