As before, trace around the edges with a ball point pen.
Score along the pen lines.
Free up the edges for easier bending and cracking by cutting relief segment lines.
Sand the disk edges with a block.
The right side picture shows the upper and lower primary hull halves dry fitted. Note the overlap of the top half.
In the instructions for the original release, you are instructed to sand off the excess material after the glue dries. In the anniversary reissue, that part is left out.
ReplyDeleteIt was when I began sanding off this excess material did I notice that problem with the fit at the back of the saucer -- in particular where the impulse engines are located (i.e. the part that protrudes out of the back). But at that stage it was already too late for me to make adjustment -- so I ended up having to leave that "lip" at that part of the saucer.
