Wolverine Jayhawk Build, Background

Next up is the Wolverine Rocketry Jayhawk.

These kits are for sale through Uncle Mike's Rocket Shack.

This kit is BT-50 based and reminds me of the old Centuri Jayhawk. The Centuri version had fiber fins (dense, thick card stock) and a card stock boat tail. Because of the boat tail, the engine was friction fitted with masking tape.
The Wolverine Jayhawk has a standard engine hook and no boat tail.

I have a history with this one, I drew up the kit instructions when it was owned and produced by Starlight Rocketry. Uncle Mike's Rocket Shack and their model rocket division Wolverine Rocketry now produces the kits.

On the left is an older Starlight Jayhawk build. I added a boat tail and electronics tunnel. I probably put too much detail into the small model. It really got beat up after a few launches.
On the right is another Jayhawk, the ASP Micro Maxx version.

  1. It looks odd without the boat tail, but as you did, one could be added by the builder.
