Quest Courier #Q2011 Build, Finished

This is a great looking rocket with big, clean graphics.

You really don't have to get a perfect finish on the fins, the stick on graphics cover up most of the wood surface.

Some kits don't supply decal coverage for all sides of all fins. This kit does.

Here's the mid-point name decal. Another name sticker goes on the opposite side.
The egg capsule was sanded smooth and polished. I didn't paint the capsule, you run the risk of pulling up paint when the tape wrap is removed.

I would have liked to use blue electrical tape to hold the egg capsule together. Blue would better match the trim colors on the fin stickers.

The Courier looks to be a good, generic egg lofter. Some have converted it to use 24mm motors.

  1. The color scheme is very pretty. I’ve never owned a Quest rocket but now I’m interested in looking for one of their kits.

    1. Hi Jimmy,
The fin sticker reminds me of the old Estes Omega fin decals that cover up 3/4 of the fins.
If I had a parts concern with the Quest kits, it's the yellow engine mount tube. It seems thin, there is no glassine layer on it.

  2. This one looks as if it might be a good carrier rocket for a keychain video cam with a little capsule adaptation.
    Nice build, Chris!

    1. Hi Ed,
You are right, that would work. The wide nose cone could be cut out for a rear facing camera with enough room for an altimeter too.

  3. A few years back, I mentored STEM students at the local elementary school. We built Couriers and launchers then lofted eggs. We had about a 25% survival rate, egg-wise - and a 95% rate rocket-wise

    1. Hi Phill,
Only 25% success? That seems low to me. I don't really have a lot of egg loft experience except for a few NARAM entries over the years.
