Estes Saturn V #1969 Build, Part 31, Gluing The Tunnels

After the tunnels were cut and fitted, they were hit with CWF and smooth sanding.
A coat of filler/primer and sanding before gluing onto the body tube.
The primer on the body tube locations was scraped away before gluing on the tunnels.

I used my machine square make sure the top of the half round was even with the top of the molded tunnel on the wrap.

Notice the right side of the half round is low, on the right side there is a gap. The right side is even with the molded end, the gap will be filled with a glue fillet.

Double check by sighting down the rocket body from the end.
All the half-rounds should match the contour and sides of the molded ends.

The low, and the high end tunnels glued in place.

  1. What kind of glue did you use on the half-rounds? Thanks!

    1. Hi Tomas,
You mean the cardstock reinforcements? I used Weldwood Contact Cement. Apply to both sides and stick on when still wet. If you let the glue dry, it'll grab and not let go! The wet glue allows repositioning.
