Quest Sport #Q1007, Paint & Touchup

This isn't a build, but notes on finishing the Quest Sport.
The Quest Sport flys with 24mm motors or 18 mm with the included engine adapter.
The model also has a plastic fin can and nose cone.

It happens to all of us -
Spray paint seems to attract flying insects.

I've learned not to panic when a gnat or Love Bug lands in the paint. Don't try to remove the bug when the paint is wet. You'll smear the paint and be left with fingerprints.

TIPS: After the paint dries, lift off the bug with tweezers.

You can barely see where the bug landed, just two small footprints.
These were erased with some polishing compound.

Here's the before and after a touchup with a permanent marker.

On the left the yellow paint shows on the body tube edge even though the wrap around sticker is even with the top.

Pull out the nose cone and run the marker over the tube lip. It's a cleaner look.

  1. Hi Chris,
Too bad this didn't happen to a Mosquito kit, then it wouldn't be a problem.
