Estes Thor Agena Build Part 4 Engine Mount Fine Points




Figure 3 of the original instructions show the glue tab formed so it is a raised "step". This would make the outside of the shroud edge smoother.



One way to do this is with finger pressure. Hold and press while the glue dries.

Another, better way is to press down on the outside seam area with a rounded dowel.

The rear 2050 ring was glued even with the end of the BT-20J engine mount tube.
Be sure it is glued on the opposite end of the engine block.

The flat exposed side of the 20/50 ring should be smooth. You'll never be able to get it smooth after the nozzle shroud is glued over and overhangs the ring.

I could just sand it flat with the end of the tube, but it would be fuzzy and you'll
want a very smooth surface.
Here the flat open side gets a coat of medium CA for sanding to surface.
Let dry and we'll sand smooth in the next post.
