After the CA coat dries, sand the flat exposed side of the ring flush with the BT-20J motor mount tube.

This is the ring about halfway through the sanding.
I had to take it down a bit, far enough it would have ended up with plenty of "fuzzies".
Coating with CA gives you a harder surface for smooth sanding.
My 20/50 ring needed another coat of CA and then fine sanding with 400 grit on a block.
