How Not To Get Started In Model Rocketry

Louis Berlin found this YouTube video and shared it on the Model Rocketry Fanatics page:

Estes Gnome? Estes NOPE!
I counted 18 mistakes in this video.

Wood glue on plastic? Not to mention most all part descriptions were incorrect.
Regular paper was used for wadding, balled up to "protect" the streamer.

There's the problem with YouTube - Anybody and everybody puts out a "How-To" video.
You've got to give this guy some credit for taking the time to make, edit and upload the video. But, this video would lead to a streamer separation with flaming paper "wadding" raining down.
It's not just bad rocket videos - When I was lifting old vinyl and floor installing tile, I had to go through ten different YouTube videos to get the correct information I needed.

  1. This video was hilarious, but sad due to the complete display of incompetence. The guy claims that he was rushed to make the video in time for a Scout launch, and that parents are incapable of reading instructions. Bad excuses, all. This wasn't a case of the guy not knowing about the right way to do things. This was a demonstration of laziness and disregard for instructions. Thank goodness this wasn't a model that required building balsa fins and applying a finish of any kind. We can only imagine.....
