Model Profile - Semroc THUNDERBEE

So, I bought a box of 1/2A3-4t engines in the recent Scout Stuff clearance sale. Here's the perfect rocket to burn through all those engines.

From Semroc, it's the THUNDERBEE, the first release in their "Thunder" series. Check it out HERE.

The original Thunder rockets were designed by Bill Stine when he worked for Centuri. In the 1980 catalog there was three thunder rockets available, the ThunderHawk (3' tall) the ThunderBird (4 1/2" tall) and the ThunderRoc. (5' tall)
This Thunderbee is a "T" engine downscale. It's BT-5 based and 14 3/4' tall.

With one of the 1/2A3-4t engines it'll get 400' altitude. With an A3-4t it can reach 700'

Always arrow straight boosts with streamer recovery.

This is my second Thunderbee. The first one broke two different fins on two separate launches.
I salvaged the nose cone and built this one from spare parts. I got the right shade of yellow this time and finished it off with a new decal from Semroc.

  2. Once again, Sorry - I don't know the value of an original Centuri Thunderbee. There are collectors out there that pay a good price for unopened kits.

Head over to The Rocketry Forum and ask about it's value. Good Luck!
