Nike / Evader?
Sometimes the burst mode on a cheaper camera can distort the images. That's why so many of my posted launch shots haven't cleared the launcher.
On the left is my MPC / Quest Nike Smoke on a Quest B6-4.
And yes, it was going up at that angle! Later I had to get it out of a tree.
I thought the fin distortion was interesting. It reminded me of the OOP Quest Evader design.
You never know where that next fin design might come from.

Hi Chris:
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried capturing launches with a video camera. Some cameras record as 30 frames per second. It is then possible to "capture" screenshots from the video. Many will be blurry, but at 30 fps, it is possible to get some good, crisp pics.
Good luck,
Mike Ruf
Hi Mike,
DeleteI have tried but I've never been able to follow them in the viewfinder. I found it pretty frustrating. So I settle for the burst mode on my camera. It takes seven shots in 1/2 second, I can usually find something I can use on the blog.
The above picture was taken with an older camera, probably two years ago. My newer camera has a much better burst mode.
Hi Chris:
ReplyDeleteMake a wooden stake with a velcro pad on it. All of my cameras have velcro, so I can stick them on rockets, hand-held mounts, or the wooden stakes (which I call "Cam-stands"). I can stick the stakes in the ground-- usually 1 is close to the pad, and 1 is off in the distance.
It's hit or miss like you said, but practice makes perfect.
Mike.
