Estes Star Hopper Shock Cord Mount




On Facebook, Phill Ash posted a few pictures of the new "No Glue" Estes Starhopper kit.

I noticed a part I had not seen before - a pre-bent Wire Shock Cord Mount.
I asked Phill how it was attached, he posted the next picture.
The shock cord is tied to the triangle shaped loop at the top of the bent wire.
Slip the other end into the hole at the bottom of the slot in the fin can.
Push down on the wire so it lays flat and the wire is "locked" into the fin can.

This does keep the rubber shock cord a little farther away from the engines ejection charge.

  1. Interesting. I can see where this concept just might be adaptable to standard paper motor mounts. Perhaps this might warrant a little bit of R&D experimenting....
