The Bunnell NEFAR launch was scrubbed today and I'll be gone two weeks.
Today would be my chance to get in a few launches.
I got to the schoolyard just before 7:00 a.m.
The Quest AS-1 ESCORT was first up with an Estes A8-3.
Vertical boost with a slow turn to an estimated 250 feet.
The crispy Quest parachute ejected but didn't open. There isn't much room for the parachute and I must have packed it too tightly. Still, no damage on recovery.
My re-built Centuri VULCAN flew with an Estes B6-2 engine.
I did notice a minor tail wag during boost this time.
Altitude? Maybe 350 feet.
The mylar party balloon parachute ejected without problem and I caught it before it hit the ground.
My Odd'l Rockets PIPELINE was launched with another A8-3.
I was directly underneath it during boost and could easily see the spin.
I would guess the altitude to be at 225 feet. Full 12" parachute at ejection and no damage.
I was going to fly the FlisKits HONEST JOHN with a MicroMaxx engine.
Then, I did something I hadn't done in years.
Walking back to the controller, my foot got caught around the leads and I pulled over my camera tripod launcher!
The HoJo was on the ground next to the tripod. The small lugs were broken off, still on MMX the launch rod.
Also flown:
My refinished Estes RED MAX with a B6-4. Altitude was an estimated 400 feet. I should have gotten a good launch picture. Time to retire my old camera.
The 18" parachute was switched out for the 12" chute from the Pipeline rocket. Good thing - the winds were just starting to come up. The Red Max landed a little too close to a tree.
