Estes Xarconian Cruiser Build Part 8 Cutting Pod Tubes

The pod tubes are thick walled! Slow down and take your time.

The left over pieces from the intake pieces are used to make the wing pods.
Start by cutting two 4 1/2" long pieces from each tube piece.
You'll have a 2" long piece left for the pod detail.
Don't throw any tube segments away.

To make a wider gluing edge sand the pod half edges on a sanding block with 220 grit.
The inset picture shows how the flat sanded edges butt up against each other.
Apply a line of glue down the edge and press the halves together.

While the glued edges are still wet, roll over the soft edges with the back end of a Sharpie. The wet tube edge can be molded a bit making a smoother  pod side.

The ends of the joined pieces didn't want to stay together.
Tape over the ends to push the edges together.
